Title: Viper trouble
Post by: xf8u on March 04, 2009, 09:25:27 AM
Hi, I am currently restoring a 350 Viper from the ground up. Due to my age I have no experience with Imperial fasteners/sizes/measurements. It's like learning a new language. But that's the least of my worries.
Firstly: I need to get the crank rebuilt, but who and where and at what cost. I live in Manchester.

Secondly: The barrel I have been told is up to its max overbore. Sadly the rust bugs have been at it and it not useable.
Can they be re-sleeved or Nicasil/chrome plated to bring the bore diameter down.
Will the valve seats have to come out and upgraded for unleaded fuel?

Third ant last point (for now) I need to source a spares supplier of any kind - any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

I have a few suggestions for you. Reading the various classic mags will introduce you to a wealth of professionals, check out the following:
Old Bike Mart
The Classic Motorcycle
Classic Bike
Classic Bike Guide
Real Classics
Clubs will introduce you to fellow enthusiasts, information, knowledge, experience & spares etc.
The Velocette owners club http://www.velocetteowners.com/ maybe very helpful.
Also the Vintage Motor Cycle Club http://www.vmcc.net/
Hope this is some help.

I agree with JF, if you place a wanted add for the parts you require in any periodical you should be able to get what you need.
