Title: Albion 2 speed gearbox on a Coventry Eagle
Post by: A21NICK on March 10, 2009, 02:07:07 PM
Just aquired a 1929 Coventry Eagle powered by a Villiers 172cc super sports TT engine. It came with an Albion gearbox which was seperate I think it is a 2 speed. Has anyone got a 1929 Coventry Eagle and could tell me how and where the gear box is fitted to the frame.

You don't say if it is a pressed steel framed bike. If it is, it will be similar to my 1931 bike where the gearbox is mounted on a engine plate cradle with an extended rear section where the gearbox sits and is bolted down onto.  If you pm me with your email address I'll email you a parts list and photos of the engine plates and cradle.

Regards,

Martin

Yes it is a pressed steel frame, the gear box number is EK 771  I think it is a two speed. Martin I have sent you a PM with my email address. It would be a great help to see your photos of the parts list and engine plates and cradle.

Ian,

Received your PM. I need to dig the engine and cradle out from under the bench in the garage to photgraph it and will send email at the weekend with parts list as well. What part of the UK are you from btw ?
Regards,

Martin
