I had a T250 30 years ago and have just bought a T250 / GT250 as a restoration project as a way of getting back into the biking scene. it's a runner but i may be doing something wrong as it dies on me. The fuel tap doesn't have an off position but has Prime, On & Reserve. What position is On and Prime and when do you use Prime. Its been a while and I've completely forgotten what i used to do - thanks for any help, also does any one know of any spares apart from Ebay

hi you would use prime if the bike has stood for a while and the fuel has evaporated from the carbs or if you have drained them maybe to clean them,on is the normal running position after you,ve primed them does it die iff you run on prime.

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply, as i'm not sure which position Prime & On are on the tap i don't really know what i have been running on. Reserve is marked at the 9 o'clock position so the others must be 6 or 12 o'clock. these are not marked on the tap and it doesn't advise in the user manual. thanks

On my Suzuki GT380 vac tap the lever pointing forward is RES, down is ON and pointing rearward is PRI.
If in any doubt, just pull the fuel pipe off and turn the tap lever until fuel flows, as that will be the prime position.
Make sure the vacuum pipe is attached to the tap otherwise it won't work at the other two positions when the engine is running.
