Title: TX500
Post by: rissal on October 01, 2008, 07:16:32 PM
Yamaha TX500 came to Tokyo Show 1972...Do anyone have a TX500 from that year, or do you know , if the TX500 came to Europe that year ?? We like to build a racer TX500 , but we do not have any documents, that that Bike was in Europe 1972....

According to a magazine article I have, the TX500 was not  marketed in the UK (and probably Europe) until 1973.

Personally, I think the TX would not be a particularly good choice for a racer. The XS 650 twin would be a much better choice in my opinion, as it is far more reliable and tunable engine than the TX is.

Back in the day the Yamaha TX series were rather problematic, and only produced for a few years. The XS 650 would be a better choice from that period. That said: In the USA they were available from '73 to '75 - as far as I know.  There are virtually no NOS parts available for them at this point in the USA.
