Hi,
I checked the list I have of Matchless 1930 to 1940 and the prefix V/2 is not listed.
The VMCC Register only has one V2 entry, although I suspect two more without a prefix are the same. Model type is not given but simply 1929 500cc ohv with Sturmey-Archer gearbox. It appears to have become a V/3 prefix for 1930, but the Matchless list I have doesn't mention that either.
I've gone off Matchless since a borrowed 1930 model seized up on a rally in Australia last month and dumped me on the road, while resting on top of me so that I could not move.
Cheers, Peter C.

The model V/2 Matchless was made for both 1928 & 1929. It is a 500cc OHV model and was the sporting model of the range. It differs from other 500cc OHV Matchless in that the bore & Stroke was 85.5mm x 85.5mm which is the same bore & stroke as the prewar vee twin Matchless used in Brough Superior, AJS, Morgan 3 wheelers etc.
The V series Matchless were all 500OHV and started in 1927 with the Model V, the V2 in '28 & '29(same engine, different frame) and finished with the V3 in 1930.
There are a reasonable number of them around, easy to restore. The VMCC Library can supply spares list and owners manual.
