Title: Mystery Wheel
Post by: Dave on October 11, 2005, 07:47:34 PM
Hello all,

Can you help? I have this old motorcycle wheel in my workshop and cannot identify it. Any ideas?

I imagine the way the spokes key into the hub would be a clue. The tyre is an old "Barum Super Snort"

Thanks in advance, Dave.

Dave,
Unfortunately you haven't given the wheel/tyre or brake drum size but it looks like it could be an early BSA Bantam 36 spoke (D1?D3?) wheel possibly?

If it is an early Bantam wheel then the rim size is likely to be 19 inch (later wheels 18 inch) and the drum diameter would be 5 inches?

Thanks for the reply - sorry I forgot the dimensions. Yes, 19" and a 5" drum.

I had thought (hoped) it was a Bantam but the attachment of the spokes on the hub looks different.

Dave.

Dave,
Yes you could be right about the spoke holes!
This is supposed to be a a D1 hub?

I shall see what else I can find!

At least now the size is  known, that may help to identify it?

I think it is a wheel from CZ 125 A,T or CZ 150 \1946-49\ 8)

I also think it might be a wheel from a CZ from the late 40s
