Title: 1936 Sunbeam 250 sports

Can anybody help me with my search for infomation on the above bike.My father believes it was one of the last bike produced by sunbeam before being taken over.We cannot find any info and unsure where to look next

The only 250cc Sunbeam of 1936 was the Model 16.  This was new to 36, and had a high camshaft and hairpin valve springs. It had a Burman gearbox, but proved to be a poor design and was not at all successful.  The sports variant had an upswept sports exhaust system.
Sunbeam were amalgamated into AMC in 1937, so this was one of the last bikes they made prior to that.

Thank you for your reply concerning the Sunbeam 250 sports.I have spoken with my father and he is aware of the model you speak of but this is not the model he has.The model has has is the one before the high cam version,it has a high level exhaust,original sunbeam gear box and was also made in a 350cc version.Does this help identify the model or would it be possible for me to send you a photo.

Mmmm.  Slightly puzzled now.  I think a picture would help especially with the non-Burman gearbox.  Try attaching a picture to this post or if that fails, email me a copy using nigel.wynne at vintagebike.co.uk and I'll see what I can do.
