I am almost certain that it is a Coventry Eagle from about 1926 27 known as flying 8 and was side valve 976 cc some had overhead valve and were J A P engines
regards Geoff
PS would look nice in Niger Gallery if he could blow it up a bit

The one in your photo looks like the side-valve version, but I've got a picture of an OHV "Flying 8" if you want to get a good idea of the bike. They used to be called the "poor-man's Brough", though I personally think the Coventry Eagle is a far superior looking, if not performing, motorcycle.

Hi
Many thanks for the photo and the confirmation of the bike.
Am still wondering if it is possible to trace the number plate to see if the bike is still around. Any ideas? I have tried to find ownership clubs, and other websites, but so far no luck. :)
Regards
Karen
