Title: Excelsior Manxman
Post by: CS_Denmark on March 19, 2007, 07:16:13 PM
I am the owner of an Excelsior Manxman. frame No. MG688 or MC688, engine No. CXC-140. When I bought it it was without papers, I think year 1937 or 1938. I have my doubts about the timing diagram about the Valve timing. I have a manual for year 1935/36. Can I use E-12 or F-12.  Is it OK to use it for 1937 or 1938?? I also want to know the valve clearance for an exhustvalve when I make the Valve timing.

you have a 1938 39 350 CC Manxman 1938 model being H12 1939 J. 12 you can use the manual the setting up cam timing exhaust valve 8 thou if you follow the manual you should have no problem in getting this right intellet 4 thou as your engine number is low I would suggest its 1938 if you have a lot of problems please get in touch as I have rebuilt a number of Manxman engines.

Hi,

the 35/36 Manual is the only that excist for the Manxman.

Engine No. CXC 140 I would suggest too is from an 350 Manxman (1938/ H 12).
But the Frame No. could be from a MM from 1937- I saw this number MG 6.. on an 500 cc Manxman.
Frame No. for for your engine should have MH...

regards

Chris
