Title: BSA A65 Ignition Wiring
Post by: davetom on March 25, 2010, 06:20:28 PM
Can anyone give me tips on changing my ignition barrel ( lucas 88sa ) with the spade type key , for a later bsa/triumph one with a conventional key? I`m presuming that I cannot get a lucas 88sa barrel that has a conventional key?
cheers, Dave

If you can follow a wiring diagram, then you shouldn't find it too difficult to re-wire your A65 to the later electrical specification, which is, in any case, a simpler layout than the earlier system.

Thanks L.A.B, since you replied I`ve looked into it a little deeper and it doesn`t look too bad. I`d been looking at an old ignition switch and the 10 pins on it were making me think that there could be a bit of chopping and changing, but I took the headlamp off and there`s only 5 wires going to the switch so its hardly gonna be like rewiring a Toyota Prius! Thanks for taking time to reply, think i need to spend more time in the shed , and less on the laptop.....
