Title: A65 BATTERY
Post by: bikerbob on May 15, 2010, 05:20:42 PM
Further to my other earlier question I have found a  12v battery that has the same physical size as the old 6v battery but is rated at 5amph would this be suitable for a 1963 A65 Star Twin. Thanks.

A 5AH battery should work OK, but it won't leave you very much reserve electrical power in the event of a charging circuit failure-or if it became necessary to ride around at low RPM for an extended period of time-especially with lights on, and/or continual use of the brake light or horn,-for instance, when alternator ouput will be lower than the bike's electrical system is drawing from the battery.

Thanks for the reply I think I will get a higher rated battery and modify the battery carrier to suit.
