Title: Bonneville questions
Post by: paddyrat on October 20, 2006, 01:34:29 AM
Hello!  I have bought a Triumph Bonneville 750cc 1978.  I have a couple of questions.  Firstly what is the bes toil to use and how often, and secondly, I have bought a set of indicators for it, they are the long stemmed chrome types - should they go on the back or fron of the bike?

Any decent quality 20w-50 multigrade engine oil should be suitable, although it isn't recommended to use these modern 'car' oils that contain friction modifiers which can cause clutch slip in engines with wet clutches (the T140 engine and primary case share the same oil) and EP 90 for the gearbox.
T140 owners generally like to change their engine oil every 1000 miles or so, although the service interval is 1500 miles because the T140 oil reservoir capacity is only 4 (Imperial) pints (2.27 Litres).
The longer stem indicators normally go on the front on a T140.
