Hi, I,m new to the forum but like the European section.
I,ve restored lots of English bikes in my time but now travel to France twice a year to restore my pile of stones which might one day look like a house. Bought a little French Motoconfort B2A 1931, 20 years ago and am now restoring it, plus just been this weekend and bought a Terrot 350 HT 1927 and an Alcyon 175 1924, are there any more French Motorcycle enthusiasts on the forum who would like to exchange parts suppliers/ideas etc.

I have a pile of old La Vie de la Motos some back to 1988 which will soon be going into the recycle bin unless someone gives them a home.
I am fond of french bikes, all my french bikes now sold. but my days of trips to france are long over.

I will dig them out and weigh them, I have I have a lot o f glossy mags as well, but I'd want beer vouchers for those as they sell occasionally on ebay france

Monet and Goyon were licence building Sturmer Archer gearboxes, just curious if the engine is related to a Sturmey also...

I am a new member of this forum too. When I was young, with my brother, we restored Terrot, Magnat Debon motorbikes from 1930/1950. But now, I have changed my mind: enven if I like oldtimer motorcycles (2 stroke only), I prefer the seventies and I've restored and deeptly enhanced a 250 MZ ETZ. It is not orthodox a all but I've modified this motorbike in order it matches my preferences: seventies italian style, simple and beautiful (for me, simple is beautiful).

Just joined this forum.
I have an old French bike lurking in the shed.
It's a 1926 DS Malterre. 500 side-valve flat tank.
Had it for some years and started restoration but squandered my money on the family and house.
Might get round to continuing the restoration soon.
Used to subscribe to LVM but not seen many French bikes for sale in recent issues.
Certainly not much in the way of spares.
Managed to contact other owners and get quite a bit of info on the DS through it before the days of the internet.

Hi All,
I am new to the forum. I have a 1953 125cc Terrot that I am just starting to restore. I need a number of parts - gas tank and cap to start with. Would love to know about suppliers or other bikes for parts. I live in Boston MA (USA) and I think I might have to learn french in order to do this restoration. It is my first bike restoration - I am completely new to all of this!

1950,s french bikes are a bit late for me, i,ve only got 20,s and 30,s stuff which is a lot harder to find bits for.
E Bay france is your first stop for parts also Leboncoin is another good site in France, compare prices with other stuff similar to what you want first, some times they don,t have a clue what things are worth so you either get a bargain or they just put a big price on it and see what happens.
Don,t use google translator, use Bing translator, it,s free and does the job spot on.
For any info you want go on the LVA Moto - Forum, there are guys on there like Loulou32 who can answer your technical questions in seconds, they are extremely helpful guys, any problems e mail me at mickc@mickc.karoo.co.uk.

Thanks for the information. I will check out the sites you mention. I recently missed a gas tank for sale on Leboncoin, but there seem to be a number of them that come up for sale.
I am not sure how long this restoration will take, but once I am done I would like to tackle a 20 or 30s Terrot or other bike. But first I need to get this one started and finished :)
