Title: Humber 1913 3 1/2hp
Post by: JPM on October 29, 2006, 04:29:18 PM
Hello!

I'm writing from Finland. My friend is restoring a Humber 1913, 3 1/2Hp model. I have been helping him with foreign contacts.

Is there any Humber-collectors, riders or builders in this forum? My friend has some pictures but they are mainly about 1912 and 1914 models. He is wondering, that why there is so little information about the 1913-model? Does anyone knws why?

Is there other forums or pages to ask about Humbers?
(in England or else in world)

We have much more to ask, but this is a good start.

Best Regards, Juha Moilanen and Reijo Ervasti.

Thanks davebarkshire and L.A.B!

I wrote to RealClassic, lets see does it get answers there. I hope that some will appear. Reijo has contacts to Sweden, GB, New Zealand, Scotland and to Russia, but the 1913 model keeps searching.

Hello Dirt_Track!!

Nice that this topic is active! Your Humber is in nice condition. I have to ask from Reijo that is that manual familiar to him. If not, is it possible to get pictures from it?

Why I cant attach a photo, I get everytime a error message?:

"A file on the server already exists with that name. Please rename your file before attaching."

G'day Juha
The 2nd edition Humber book is 1903/04.
I have a parts book for 1909-1911.
Is your engine with the magneto to the rear or front?
Howard.

Hi JPM

I've got a 1914 Humber (sorry not 1913) and the colour is not orignal. My grandfather had a 1912 Humber and made a long journey on it in 1914 - see http://www.earlymotorcycles.com/articles4/nz/nz.htm

You can find out a bit about Sturmey Archer s speed hub gears at http://www.sturmey-archerheritage.com// Look for the 1915 Motorcycle hub manual.

You can get a parts catalog here http://www.british-motorcycle-spares.com/Humber_Manuals.htm and although it is a 1920's catalogue, many of  the parts had not changed.

This is an advertisment from the November 21st, 1912 "Motor Cycle" supplement.
The major difference that I am aware of between the 1913 and the 1914 models is that in 1914 Humber changed to inverted levers.
