Title: Push rods --HELP

1967 T100R.

Push rods were not seated correctly on the cam followers cup. The consequence is that instead of a dome shape the pushrods look more like the letter D.

What are the implications of this?
Would I have damaged the followers or anything else?

the push rods are soft alluminium.

I assume I would just need to replace them?

Hi Colin, no you would not have damaged the followers, check if there are any aluminium bits anywhere 'cos they have to be somewhere, hopefully they will be near the cups on the top of the followers, otherwise drain the sump immediately and check the filter. It would be prudent to do a complete oil change. The pushrods are badly damaged so I would replace them as the strength at the base has been reduced considerably.

Hi Hugh,

Did try to call you in a panic after seeing the rods.

I was going to do a full flush of the oil.
Guess I am going to have to remove the head to collect the excess metal? Just after I got the push rod tubes "oil Leak Free"!

Hope you were happy with the weather over the weekend???Full time at the Met office now...so don't blame me!
