Title: Sparkplugs

Hi I have a 69 bonnie that burning out plugs very quick .its fitted with a Boyer ignition.everything else is standard.

What brand and grade of plugs are you using ?
If its burning oil, and/or running lean or rich, its not the plugs fault !?

Fuel varies somewhat these days too, tried a different supplier or brand....

What do you call 'burned out' in a plug.
Can they be cleaned so they are good to go again ?

Some boyers are very sensitive to battery voltage, your battery and charging system are good ?

if your useing the standard plugs (like champion) try ngk , i have had problems with champion plugs and ngk seam to work

I'm using NGK B8ES. Witch are the right ones for the bike
The plugs have heavy soot deposits.on them.
When I say the plugs are burnt out I mean they are useless even after cleaning there is no spark
How do check its charging ok? I have a good bright light on Main beam

Where are you buying the plugs?, I had a similar problem, Google fake NGK spark plugs for info.

It's long been said that "many a magneto problem has been found in a carburettor".
This smells like the same thing.
Too rich, which is not the plug's fault.

A old motor-Factor retailer in Ramsgate, Newmans had all sorts of old stuff in storage from yesteryear, the wife of the guy who ran it, now deceased, (who still opens the shop at the Weekends), told me a couple of years ago, she had been approached by someone  who sought to but her entire stock of old parts, for cash, I imagine this stuff found its way onto the Web or  down @Beaulieu.  I still amazed what original stuff still appears there, often boxed & definitely OEM stuff.

Although this term can be now confusing due to modern nomenclature:
1) Originally, an OEM (original equipment manufacturer)REG was a company that supplied equipment to other companies to resell or incorporate into another product using the reseller's brand name. For example, a maker of refrigerators like Frigidaire might sell its refrigerators to a retailer like Sears to resell under a brand name owned by Sears. A number of companies, both equipment suppliers and equipment resellers, still use this meaning.

2) More recently, OEM is used to refer to the company that acquires a product or component and reuses or incorporates it into a new product with its own brand name.
