Title: Newbie with Monet Goyon and New Map Projects.

Hi All Just joined and wanted to say Hi. Im New to vintage bikes although i do own a 1980's Katana and a px 200 vespa. I have restored quite a few VW beetles and busses over the last few years but fancied something different.
My Wife bough me these two beauties for Christmas,
Firstly a new map with a Villiers type engine i think.

And secondly a Monet Goyon with the same engine.

the New Map is pretty much complete and the Monet Goyon is 90 % there.
not sure on the exact year on these and i need to get some confirmation at some point.
My plan is to Start with the New Map as its in one piece apart from the head being off. Then turn my attentions to the MG.

im sure there will be many questions i need to ask over the coming months but i feel it is always polite to introduce myself first.

Welcome. Couple of nice projects there.
I hope you got the wife something nice too.

In the proper vintage years, the 1920's, Monet Goyon used Villiers engines. Then for various reasons they made Villiers under licence and of course diverged slightly from the original so don't leap in thinking Villiers bits are guaranteed to fit.
Of course if you are familiar with Villiers you are halfway there but don't take anything for granted.
Personally I want to know how you're going to preserve the marvellous lady on the tank. That is so period it has to stay. What's her name?

Great projects!  I bet you'll be able to bring those back to life.  Keep us posted on progress.

Nice bikes, I have a few MG,s under restoration at the moment, can see exactly which model you have but if you go to the official site there's loads of info MONET-GOYON.COM. What have you got on your engine barrel at the back to identify your engine, I only ask as I have quite a few parts left over from my villiers engines.

Great projects!  Sounds like you are well equiped to take them on in terms of restoration experience.
