Title: Albion Gearboxes & Bowden Carbs
Post by: Lincolnshire_Poacher on September 11, 2007, 06:12:12 AM
Hi all, I'm looking for any information regarding 1930's 3 speed hand change, and 4 speed foot change Albion Gearboxes for use with 500cc single cylinder JAP engines.
Once i can identify these 2 gearboxes, i'll also be looking for them as well !!!!
At the moment the learning curve is somewhat vertical.

Also i'm looking for any information regarding 1930's Bowden carbs, jetting, setup parts lists, etc...

Any help much appreciated.
Cheers
Phil

:)I have never seen a cross-section of Albion gearbox four-speed, but as Royal Enfield use these you might find one in the book of the Royal Enfield     you can get information and cross-section of three speed and change on the site www,earlymotorcles.com/  I believe the information is in the 2005 section.  You can blow this up on the computer.  He also has a reasonable section on early carbs Hope this helps Geoff

Ta for that, found info on the Bowden carb, the one we have appears to match the illustrations.
Not too sure on the Albion Gearbox stuff, although the principle will no doubt be the same, the featured ones are slightly earlier i think. However its more info than i had yesterday which can only be a good thing !!
Did find info on JAP engine rebuilds which will prove useful, and some entertaining articles on period protective clothing, including a winter pilot suit lined with teddy bear !!

Cheers
