does anybody have any info on this model or any photographs ? Is is a good buy if available in mint condition?

Hi Rahul,
Any bike is a good buy if you like it. Thats all there is too it. It doesn't matter what you buy at least half the people you meet will tell you that particular model isn't any good even though they have never owned or ridden one and probably haven't even seen one before, so don't listen to them.
There is plenty of information about for the Ensign. Try BMS or the VMCC Library. Both are on line.
As for it being in mint condition, don't kid yourself. It might be shiny and pretty but no 50 year old small two stroke is in mint condition. It might be shiny and pretty but unless the owner rides it daily it will have a host of minor little problems, particularly electrical, when you come to ride it.
Most of these problems could be quickly sorted by an rider experienced in British two strokes but are frustrating for someone new to the game.
I would suggest you join the British two Stroke Club who will be very helpful.

thanks so much for the great advice...i have just got into this hobby and with a limited budget, just wanted to get the feel of owning and riding a vintage...there are not too many options out here in india and thought that the ensign would be a good start...regarding the "mint condition"...it has been completely restored and i will be getting it by this month end and will post a few photos..also if could ask for some more advice....i am on the verge of buying a 1953 BSA 250cc C-11 (b), plunger....any thoughts on it?

HI Rahul i am Neeraj from delhi parts for this royal enfield ensign is hard to get and very complicated  best to buy british 350cc bsa bb31 plunger  or bsa swing arm. i got couples of bikes for sale let me know if u interested.
