l have a one owner 64/65 TR6ss and it came fitted with a speedo in uk. in the states where it was a sports bike they were often sold without a speedo. has anyone out there tried fitting modern round profile tyres e.i. avon arrows etc and do they improve cornering  , straight line stability and any drawbacks. What sizes for 3.25 and 3.50 and 4.00.

Rowdy.
All factory road going Triumphs were fitted with speedo's as standard, however the tacho was often an extra. Only competition (race track use) machines had a tacho and no speedo.

Ron,
I've fitted the softer Avon AM 20/21 tyres which give a lot more "turn in and stick"  3.25, 19 front and 400, 18 rear, however it does depend on how you want to ride and whether you want originality. Old profile Avons eg the SM range are produced with modern compounds and are a perfectly good tyre, are you a scratcher?
