I've not actually heard of Halfords petrol proof paint?

But they do sell a petrol resistant lacquer which is supposed to be OK:  http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_176383_langId_-1_categoryId_90898

i have used halfords petrol resistant lacquer on my petrol tank henry and it has worked fine, just make sure it is compatable with the paint you are overspaying also does have a tendency to bloom a bit so make sure its nice and warm when spraying.hope this helps steve :)
