Is it just me or has the Classic Bike forum disappeared? Somebody tell me please, I am starting to think I imagined the whole thing...
-
Yes it's gone, it disappeared without any warning. Apparently they haven't (so far) bothered to renew their rights to use the "Classic Bike forum" domain name which expired on the 13th of December.
Their website has been reduced to not much more than a home page and there's no forum link.
-
Thanks for the info L.A.B, I think one of us should buy the name really, if they don't want it...
-
You're absolutely right the Classic Bike Forum did vanish without trace, I thought it might be my computer taking me to the wrong place. But then I received an e-mail from zitman, another Classic Bike Forum member. He sent me this link to the 'new' Classic Bike Forum.

There are some explanations on there as to what happened, or didn't happen as the case may be :-/

I won't shed any tears, that's for sure.
Too cliquey, same old in-jokes and unwelcoming to new-comers.
Oh yeah, and most of the subjects were carp too.... ;)
At least the mag's improved......slightly.
-
The magazine is worse than ITV it;s all repeats.
-
I remember when "Classic Bike" first started out, that they had an advert stating the mag was for true classics, with a couple of pictures of the "big four" Jap manufactures Honda (a lawnmower), Yamaha (a piano".
So what went wrong?
It seems that the Japs are taking everything over.
What really defines a "Classic Motorcycle" :-/

So what went wrong?
I don't think anything went wrong?
It's just that Classic motorcycle magazines now have to cater for a younger generation of readers who are probably around the same age now as we were, when we first started buying Classic Bike.
I must admit I did allow my Classic Bike subscription to lapse last year (2008) which for me was the end of an era, as I'd bought it since the early days.

Just been on the "replacement" for the old CB site.
Dear oh dear, there's some sad and lost souls on there. Then again, maybe there always was.... ;D
