Title: suzuki gt550
Post by: david towers on August 30, 2004, 11:09:05 PM
Hi all,
Anyone know why old 550's will not charge? So far replaced the stator, regulator, earth straps, and the rectifier has been tested (over and over again!) A auto electrician checked it all again on Wednesday and say's that the rotor is fried. Is this likely? It's getting very expensive chuck ing new bits at this, and anyway, I can only do about 20 miles before the battery is flat, yes it is a new battery!
Any idea's much appreciated.
Regards,
Foxxy

;)put a multimeter on it check output and make sure the output is going through the reg/rec and getting to battery - could be as simple as a break or lack of continuity in a wire- you may have one coil down in generator so it would not kick out enuf volts to charghe battery
