Title: Help identifying Ariel
Post by: crazypierre on June 14, 2005, 08:09:55 PM
Hi
I'm trying to help a friend identify an old Arial single he brought back from Pakistan in the 1970s. Clues:
-Single cyclinder with 2 exhaust ports
-2 Exhaust pipes one either side, low level
-Chrome/red tank with speedos etc in the tank
-Plunger style rear suspension
-Telescopic front forks
-Separate rider/passenger seats
-Rear centre stand
-We think its a 500cc and we think it was built in 1950.
Any ideas? Or where can I find out.
Thanks
Pete

How about an engine and frame number, and I might be able to come up with something.

 ;D  HI,
What you describe is bound to be an Ariel Red Hunter  If you give me the engine and frame numbers I will tell you the year and exact model...It is more likely ton be a 350  than a 500...If you have a pic it will be easy
The Redhunter was a popular bike here in India and in Pakastan..  I have 4 myself......If it was the sports model it will have a 20inch front wheel. If it is a 19 inch then it may be the delux model instead.
 Hope you find this helpful
 Regards
 Arthur
