Title: Insuring in France - anyone done it???
Post by: henry_norton on September 25, 2009, 04:29:01 PM
I'd like to insure my '65 Bonneville in France. Thing is, I want to keep the UK plate. I've heard it can be done but would like to know if anyone's had any particular experience with this?

Dead Easy!  Keep your bike on sorn in Uk and insure over here as an Historic Bike without having to change any reg numbers.  Third party is 30€ per year. send Email to  (he speaks English)   frederic male .. e address =  fontenay.le.comte@thelem-assurances.fr  and he'll sort you out. Phone from Uk 00332 51 50 24 08. let me know if this helps

HI.VERY GREY AREA INSURING IT ON UK PLATES.
MOST COMPANIES WILL REQUIRE IT TO BE REGISTERED ON FRENCH PLATES WITHIN 6 MONTHS.
MOST POLICE ARE ALSO VERY HOT THESE DAYS ON RIDING ROUND FRANCE WITH NO UK TAX,UK PLATES AND A FRENCH INSURANCE.
TREAD VERY CAREFULLY.
WHY NOT JUST RE REGISTER IT.
CHEERS DON. :)
