Title: 1976 Honda 400 4 leaking carbs via float valve o ring seal
Post by: vivvov on June 11, 2011, 03:02:05 PM
Hello All

I got a 400 4.
It's been standing a good while but starts..and idles.. but leaking petrol out the carbs overflow pipe.  Now attempting to sort out leaking carbs on my 400. Took the carbs out..It's the o rings on the float valve.  Dried out and perished.  4 replacement kits runs to £50 for the whole float valve assembly.....only need 4 o rings!!
I've been trying shops and wandering into local garages looking hopeful but to no avail and no leads.

Has anyone any idea where I can purchase just the o rings?

Thanks
Vivvov

Carefully measure them, and then check if the size is listed here:  http://www.polymax.co.uk/acatalog/O-Rings_ORings_O_Rings_From_Polymax.html
(Viton O-rings are probably the best for petrol)

You may have to buy 20 but it should only cost a few pounds.

If you can get a diameter for the o-rings lots of places sell o-ring kits with a little care you can make your own.
