Hi,
This was was my great grandads bike circa 1930. I am trying to identify it and would really appreciate it. First thoughts were a Rudge but no idea what model.
Thanks for any help

New Hudson, circa 1931 ?
Those engine covers fad are rather distinctive.

There was also a 550cc version, I wouldn't know how to tell them apart (from this view).
There was also a 500cc ohv, but its exhaust line looks a shade different.
Great pic, proud owner back then.

Thanks for your help, it looks to be that!
Now just a mission to try and track it down!!
Cheers

Good luck with that, very few New Hudsons around. :(

It looks more to be a Triumph ND:

or a similar Triumph model (WL, etc.)

Yep, I'd agree with the Triumph.

Well done Helmut - when I glanced at the photo I immediately though "New Hudson", but you are correct it is clearly a Triumph. Quite a low period for Triumph (and others) and I don't think I've ever seen one of these enclosed slopers in the flesh.

Yes I'd go along with that.
Explains why the tank logo didn't really match, dimple in the muffler etc..
