Hi
Anybody have a best & Llyod oil pump for sale
Anji

apart from these being a very rare item, and mostly defective due to the metal they were made from deteriorating, there are many different models, often specific to a particular bike.
So it would help if you knew what for?
If its one of this type then you are lucky

Hi Anji,
There is also a French firm manufacturing various makes and type of early oil pumps. They do three Best and Lloyd engine driven models plus they do a version of the hand plunger type of oil pump along with several others.
Their website is http://www.a2c2m.fr Being in French I can't navigate it very well but look for Motos Anciennes. I have a few Matchless originally fitted with a small Best & Lloyd so was quite interested but their English was as good as my French and other matters got in the way so never followed through. Worth having a look though.
Cheers,

Here's a better link with pics;an interesting firm I did not know about. Looks like a place to get my very odd Sunbeam Best and Lloyd re made.
I can deal in French Ok.

They are based just south of Nantes; Around Nantes there is a very good vintage club, high interest in vintage bikes; the annual Nantes a Montaigu rally is a big one.
probably an encouraging factor.

Hi All,
The "British Only" B&L pump is made by these guys,
http://www.vintage-replica.cz/373.E.htm
they also sell all the individual parts or the body only, the originla parts will fit the replica body if required
A considerable difference in price between the two :o

It's not just a matter of price. Best & Lloyd made various pumps with different pumping capacities to suit small or large engines. For example, the Best & Lloyd fitted to the vintage Matchless 250cc bikes are smaller than those fitted to their 500cc singles and 1000cc vee-twins of the same period. The capacity of the small pump is up to 200cc per hour, the large pump is up 500cc per hour. Both pumps are adjustable but usually the large pump does not give the necessary accuracy when the flow is reduced to suit the smaller capacity engines hence Best & Lloyd made the smaller pump.
Do you want to be original and fit the right size pump or fit the larger but cheaper model then alter your engine to hopefully cope with the extra oil? Some will go one way, some the other. At least we now have a choice.

Hi All,
Not alone the different sized pumps !
The pumps similar to those from vintage replica came with at least two different piston sizes, I have a 3/8in. and a 9/32in.
The vintage replica guys did not know this !
If someone is looking for a small body B&L I have one for sale
It is in really good condition
Similar to the one in this image
