Hi all - hope this is the right place.
1963 Triumph Trophy TR6
I've been asked to sell this bike by the out-laws. I have a vague idea what it's worth but not sure. It starts and runs fine and I've ridden it around a few times. It's been in the shed for a year now and passed its MOT just before going in. It's not a matching numbers complete original bike but almost all the parts are period and correct so it's not a total mutt.
What I do know is it's had a lot of work done to it mechanically but the owner didn't want it restored cosmetically because he liked the patina of age. So it looks a bit untidy but the engine, carb and electrical bits have been overhauled to quite a high standard, new silencers etc. There is history to prove all this.
What I do know is it's mainly a 1963 bike with some early 1970's bits here and there. Maybe you guys will be able to educate me and in that process could assign some kind of value?
Thanks in advance.

The short answer is whatever someone will pay for it. Given non-original parts etc £5K would be a good starting point.

Well, the engine is '69 or later, as is the front brake ('69-'70).
Still worth a few quid, though.
The registration (7318 PF) if transferable, has some value.

4k start as its a mix of years, but still a very nice bike for someone.

That could be a nice bike, but "new silencers"? They look dented and empty to me, and the forks/gaiters want sorting too.
Value always depends on where in the world you are, too.

Thanks for the input all.

5k plus all day long. Just look in the mag. adverts.

Yes, but those are asking prices. I find the best guide is to look for completed listings on ebay - and bikes like this seem to be £3 - £4K.
-
I thought he wanted an asking price. He won't know the selling price till it's sold.
-
True, but he did say "value".......
-
Wish I could find one like that for 3 grand.
{Hint hint...}

I will create a for sale thread but feel free to PM me with offers. Bike is in London SW7
