Title: Source of pannier keys?
Post by: Mark M on October 31, 2018, 07:30:23 PM
I'm sorry if this is OT but it's not a subject that fits into an easy category! I have a set of Yamaha factory accessory panniers and their frames that I want to sell but I can't find the keys. Is there anyone who might be able to provide or cut these? There don't seem to be any numbers on the locks. The bike was (I no longer have it,) a 2003 600 Diversion, if that makes any difference. :-\

Any good locksmith will be able to cut a new key to fit the lock.

It might also be worth trying your local Yamahahaha dealer, although could be a bit pricey.
A lot of those small type keys only have a couple of versions - thats if you can't unlock it with a screwdriver !

You'd probably have to be on a Yam forum to find someone with the same panniers,
and even then you'd be lucky. ?

Update on this, still trying! Tried my local quality locksmith (Brinnick's Newport Pagnell,) and they opened the cases FOC and were generally very helpful. However they couldn't identify the key blank so couldn't go any further. An online company K2C couldn't help either.

Tried your Yamahahaha dealer ?
Yamaha would likely have sourced the panniers from a known supplier,
if you can track them down....

A lot of those panner types you can get replacement locks and keys for, for not a vast outlay.
Example of givi replacements, to replace the earlier (simpler) key types.

Sorry, no luck there either! When Brinnicks the locksmiths opened the case I found maker's labels in German but no further identification. However, I have finally solved the problem, I found one key, in the bottom of the scrap brass box. Coming to Ebay soon, set panniers, Diiversion for the use of....
