Title: Amal mk1 replacement slide
Post by: mike1948 on June 28, 2019, 12:23:00 AM
Hi people, I am about to buy a replacement slide for my Amal mk1.  I have a choice between Amal and Wassell.  There is quite a price difference, but what about quality?  Has anyone out there experience with both?

Cheers, Mike

I can only say that I have never had any issue with Amal spares that I've bought from Surrey Cycles.
They're on line and helpful on the phone.

Yes, Surrey Cycles sell an improved chrome plated slide. I have had one fitted to my 389 monobloc for many years and it shows no sign of wear at all. That I would suggest is the way to go.

Amal or Hitchcocks are both good, but what's the reason for replacement? If it's just down to wear then a new slide won't cure all your problems as the body will be worn too.
