Hello,

I am in Australia and am looking at buying a T120 Triumph Bonneville.  I am seeking a pre 1970 bike.
I don't know how to identify the year of manufacture for bikes manufactured prior to 1970.

I have a Triumph Alpha Numeric prefix numbering system which starts in 1969.  I was wondering if their
exists the same numbering system related to pre 1969 bikes so that I can identify the year of manufacture
from engine/frame numbers in advertising.

Thanks in anticipation.

Thank you for the information.  I am getting a dvd "The story of Bonneville" for Christmas.
I didn't realise that the T140 had year followings some better than others
I will take your suggestion and read up.
Thanks Kev

Hello,
I am looking to purchase a 1970's Triumph Bonneville.  Can someone please advise me the difference between say a 1979 T140D and a T140E.
Also how does one read the engine/ frame numbers to ascertain the specifications of the bike, i.e. build date etc
Thanks Burt
