British Bikes / 3T contact breakers?
« on: March 18, 2011, 08:50:09 AM »
Hi all.
You guys were most helpful when I recently posted a problem trying to find a carb for my 1950 Triumph 350 and now I am hoping to call on you again.
Does anyone know where I can find a set of contact breakers for the above?
I have trawlled the internet to no avail.
The weather is improving and I would like to get the bike ready for the season.

Hi all
Thanks for the help with the carb I have just ordered one from Surrey Cycles (very helpful)
I now have another question.
Does anyone know where I can buy a new set of contact breakers for the same machine?
This is the last piece in the puzzell (for now anyway).

Thanks again.

Since i am not showing the bike but riding it i think the monoblock sounds like the best bet.

Thanks for all the help.

No offence taken but it was obvious to me that the carb fitted to the bike was not the original as it is a monoblock as i have an original owners manual which shows a different type (i now know it is a 275 pre monoblock)
They were helpful in as much as i now know what i need although s c did confirm that the are not produced now and suggested that i should either fit  276 which is available or a 376 monoblock which is less expensive £160.00 ish. I will check the web site as suggested.
Clear as mud!

Hi All
I have a trimumph 3T 1950.Does anyone out there know which model Carb this bike should have i have been told it was a Amal 275 pre monobloc is this correct? and if so where can i find one? The carb on the bike at the moment is very worn and i cant get the engine to idle and in any case i do not believe it bis original as it is a monobloc and is definately different to the one pictured in the ownwers manual.
I would be grateful for any advice.

Dennis

Hi I am new to this forum and new to vitage bikes (last time i had a vintage bike it was nearly new) I have just purchased a Triumph 3t and need some help with the electrics. 1 Should this be positive or negative earth? 2 I cant seem to get the dynamo to charge the battery. The ameter is not showing a charge at all.3 does anyone know where i can find a wiring diagram? I have brought an instruction manual which is an original 1950 booklet and whilst there is a good ammount of info on most aspects there is no wiring diagram.
Lastly the stop button is not working so the only way i can stop the engine is by stalling it. I have had the button out and disconected it and tried crossing the wires but this does not wiork either so it is not the actual switch.
If anyone can help with any of the above i would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance
