are you sure that the clutch isnt slipping, if its the military dry type in the sealed drum they slip badly if oil gets in from the chain case or gear box via the sleeve gear

hi ,Go for a unit triumph cheaper bits and easy to mend, also BSA M20 /M21 army models are virtually unbreakable, but a bit heavy on fuel , I abused one for years with a sidecar , and its supposed to be still up and running after a missionary type took it to Africa to use .

British Bikes / Re: T140V cylinder base nuts
« on: February 27, 2009, 08:08:37 PM »
we use the multi point type nuts and grind a good quality ring spanner to go between the nut  and barrel then pull them up as tight as you can ,make sure that all the threads in the crankcase are good  and fit the studs as deep as they will go we do this and have no problem  with them loosening ,we run methanol with a 12.5/i compression ratio. we also use a head steady that fits between the rocker boxes and frame via a welded on lug as if we tip the nitromethane in (15%) at sprints it pulls the top off the cases level with the cam bushes ,cheers swe
