European and Other Bikes / Re: Benelli 254
« on: January 02, 2011, 12:39:24 AM »
ive got one, a red 1982 one. starter is gone and ive put off replacing it because of other projects, it wasnt running when bought, i done the head gasket and a few other bits, sorted some dodgy wiring and got it running , rode it a few times and it was nice.
from what i gathered there was 5 imported to ireland by a particular dealer, they were too expensive so diddnt sell (almost twice the price of a honda 250 ) so 1 was kept for the dealers daughter and the rest exported .
you can still get parts in germany from benelli.de , ive got a few bits there and would reccomend them .

ive a mark 3 commando , while testing the charging system i got irratic readings on the multimeter, holding at 12v (battery was charged ) ,with small revs it seemed to drop in power but when given a bigger rev and revs were dying the volts went up to near 13 volts, im presuming this is wrong an am putting off heading to a show tommorow over it, shows 50 miles of a journey so im weary that it will get there and home,

bike had been lying up for 5+ years .
any input?

Hi,

I am in the process of trying to build my own chopper. I have built a bike before however this is my first attempt at a chopper. I am trying to find front forks......either to buy or to be made.....

Can anyone helpwith this I dunno where to even start looking....

Many thanks

Dougie
what yokes are you using?,what diameter forks do you need , what size wheel ,lenght of fork is needed.
breakers yards can be a great source for forks for choppers.
what engine and frame are you going with btw?, i;m a bit of a chopper nut meself .

it might be worth doing a compression test.if its not ring then a leaky valve seal perhaps.cant think of any other way oil could get to the plug.
