Japanese Bikes / Re: What was your first Japanese Motorcycle
« on: April 08, 2007, 09:41:39 AM »
started on a c90 when 7/8 on the farm, first bike legaly on the road was a Honda MT50(with a h100 engine) followed by a cg125 then a cb100 with an alpha exhaust and 125 head/carb - good for 80mph! then several small hondas a gs850 with a gsx head that used to snap shafts :-) and a full yoshi kitted 400/4 that ate lc's - that upset them - a 10 year old 4 stroke faster,a Gpz with a lot of harris goodies but as soon as I passed my test they were only work bikes - the bonnie is for fun.

I run my bonnie on 6v coils and it starts and runs better that when it had the 12v ones. It pops and farts like mad if the plug gaps are too big (on overrun)

what my (rapidly) ageing brain cell forgot was that most water is going down the inner cable.

British Bikes / water filled gearbox
« on: April 19, 2007, 06:44:22 AM »
The gearbox on my bonnie has always filled up with water down the clutch cable this has not been too much of a problom in the past but I only have a short ride to work now and the gearbox no longer gets hot.
How do others get round this as self amalgamating tape/grease do not seem to make much difference and the clutch operating 'balls' have self destructed again.

a bit late as usual.......
I have used scrap yards for seatbelts to fit into a relient in the past.Centre ones might be more suited to your needs. You can also get kits to fit carry cots into cars I used one before fitting the seatbelt - they have adjustable webbing that would also fit a carseat.

I have a copy of the (dealers)triumph workshop manual for my t120 that has drawings and dimensions for the frame, the manual for your model probobly has the same.
Mine came from Britbits in Christchurch (UK) many years ago but they should be able to help.

I have to agree with L.A.B. try to get the genuine workshop manual - they are cheaper than the Haynes book of lies and far more accurate. If you put the pages into plastic wallets(they come in a ring binder) they also last far longer than the books do because you can wipe the oil off! The haynes books are usefull for the photos sometimes. Britbits in Christchurch sold me mine many years ago-no doubt they cost more now but mine is twenty years old and still readable

I once had an early gpz that was a real bu**er to start but once running was the fastest around and all the problom was the tappets needed adjusting - it took a year to discover this but once the were done it started easier but was slower!

you may have to adjust the nut ect. on the pressure plate because a new cable and rod will not have stretched or worn yet
