British Bikes / valve settings
« on: May 04, 2015, 07:13:25 PM »
Hi , Can someone please explain valve settings on a tiger t100r-eg If I want to set them as Haynes manual for my bike .002in inlet and 004 for exhaust or as recommended by a friend under the circumstances of my 1966 USA export re imported-''.010in would be better suited all around.''  Can I set them as this with 1 inlet closed (so set it)and  the other inlet which seems open and then do the exhaust with one closed and the other open ie do the closed one or do I have to have the inlet valve closed and then do the exhaust which is open and then the same on the other side. Confused (easily).I don't really understand the sequence when firing - do both inlets/exhaust open/close at the same time or are they slightly apart?(3rd question I'm afraid).Haynes seems to do the opposite from Lunmad videos unless my understanding is up the creek (as usual). Thanks

The Classic Biker Bar / T100R electrical problem
« on: April 04, 2015, 11:10:45 PM »
Hi - just looking for some advice on this - I had been keen to take my 1966 T100r out for a spin after top end service.  I stuffed the new battery in but left the negative wire sitting high. Started ok but after a few dammed ramps I think Its shorted against the seat and blew a fuse. Not at first realising this I stuffed some foil round fuse to get home and ran for a few hundred yards then after a few more bumpy ramps it died again. A friendly householder gave me a 13 amp fuse - firstly got it started but then all electrics went again.  Cant see any burnt wire.  Would anyone know whats I am likely to have destroyed ! ?

British Bikes / ignition light
« on: June 22, 2013, 07:28:25 PM »
Hi-wondering if anyone can help-I have an ignition warning light on my 1966 t100r.  I think it remains on once I switch on. I thought had a blown bulb but there's no power to it. Before I start to take things apart can anyone tell me where the white lead which goes from it into the loom attaches to so I can trace the fault or any ideas. Thank you

British Bikes / T100R Points/caps
« on: April 05, 2011, 12:09:25 AM »
Evening all. Confused again-so am I! Had reason to renew 6CA points and caps.  Caps were not as expected and do not fit onto existing metal frame above coils under tank. They have 1 male spade type fitting for wire as opposed to the previous posilock ring type(in fact almost look like the terminals are reversed).  I can convert attachments to suit but wanted to check if I'm missing something here(apart from grey matter) before I go and make a new catch to hold them/females to mate them and do these new caps have to be insulated from the frame when attached.  Also I am wondering if with a 12v stator and 12v  battery is it possible to know if I have 12 or 6 volts coils or does it matter?  I have 2 coils with SIBA 32000 marked which I gather are german and were used at the time with +terminal marked 15 and negative marked 1 for correct wiring.
Cheers

British Bikes / T100R
« on: March 23, 2011, 10:03:41 PM »
Hi all - After several months of rebuilding I finally got back on the road with no little help from Duppy and u guys!  Everything went to plan, rebuild ,take apart and do right, rebuild ...LEARN..Anyhow it was very pleasing to kick a couple of times(sorry no proof video!) and start with just a few minor adjustments to make and some additional new bits to purchase for smooth running.  Spring weather made a great day out! Question is what is the light on the headlamp shell for - I have speedo, rev counter, amp meter working ok but 2 lights below only one of which is wired and bulbed.  One works  ie stays on and I'm unsure what its for- dont think for oil pressure as theres no leads apparent for that, alternator seems to be charging ok so dont know why it doesnt go out.  Any suggestions, answers, appreciated as always, cheers

British Bikes / T100R
« on: October 29, 2010, 06:12:46 PM »
Hi- After  a good few years of pure pleasure on the bike I am attempting a rebuild which  began with kickstart problems.  Now down to the crankshaft bush and found the woodruff key was not locked in(new key needed), the bush was not tight on the shaft(new bush) but more worrying the bush came off without heat which makes me believe the case is worn from the bush turning on the shaft.  Its fits in too loosely and I wondered if its possible to get a slieve put in the case rather than have to now look for a new /old crankcase.  I had thought of locktite but this bush has oil lines and the thought of some locktite either blocking lines or coming loose is not the way I want to go. Has anyone any ideas on this please?

British Bikes / T100 Rocker oil feed
« on: June 28, 2008, 06:21:38 AM »
Hi- does anyone know if the oil feed to the rockers favours the inlet over the exhaust-mine seems to have a slightly greater flow to the inlet, like 70/30 and I'm unsure if this is a design or a blockage! (grasping at straws me thinks).  Any advice appreciated, Cheers.
