European and Other Bikes / 2V Jawa Speedway Engine Piston Seized
« on: March 16, 2015, 06:57:10 PM »
Hi All,

I have been asked if I could take a look at an old speedway engine or a guy who is restoring the bike. The engine is a ESO engine but the piston is seized solid in the bore and has been since the 1970s. The engine seized up and the rider took the engine out and replaced it and left it until now. I have tried parafin, Gizer and Gunk but to not avail. The barrel is lose but but obviously cannot be removed. I have tried a wooden block and hammer but have stopped after the blows were getting harder! Any suggestions greatly received. I have considered machining the piston away but was wondering if the is a non destructive method out there.

Thanks

Jon

British Bikes / T140E Grab rail / Luggage rack
« on: March 04, 2012, 10:44:02 AM »
Hi,

Does anyone know how to tell what luggage rack/grab rail was fitted to a particular bike or model. I bought a grab rail a couple of years back but it doesn't fit. When I fitted it the holes for the rear of the rail do not line up. It does have 2 holes drilled by the rear light so I am looking something like that. The bike is a 1979 T140E (NA- Oct 78). Whenever I tried to get cycle parts during the rebuild I was always faced with the usual chin stroking from the triumph suppliers as it is a change-over year model.

Any clues please - I have already made a mistake once and am not keen to repeat the expensive experience

Cheers

British Bikes / T140E Timing Side bearings.
« on: October 16, 2011, 02:27:40 PM »
Hi All,

Could anyone help again please? I need to change the main bearing on the timing side as the crank I have just got has a smaller 1 1/8 bearing. The old one is a 6306 bearing but the internal diameter is now too big at 30mm. Does anyone know the part number please or can explain why this is different.

Grateful for any help

Thanks

British Bikes / TSS Crankshaft
« on: September 20, 2011, 07:54:15 PM »
Hi,

Does anyone know the difference between an T140 crankshaft a TSS crankshaft. I was looking the other day and the prices are quite different with the TSS being a lot less. Are they interchangeable?

Thanks

British Bikes / T140 Valve Timing
« on: September 17, 2011, 08:44:52 PM »
Hi All,

I am struggling with my 1979 (Oct 1978) T140E. I have reassembled the bike and the the bike won't start. The only thing I can think of is that I may have the timing wheels on the wrong woodruft key. I would be grateful if anyone can tell me if there is a way of telling. I have just joined this site again after a couple of years working abroad and have a new user name as I have a new email address.
Thanks for any help

Brooksy
