British Bikes / Re: Wanted Royal Enfield 505 Barrel

Sorry Rex you have it wrong the stud holes that are in are too close to the barrel wall as it is now if the barrel was bored out for a liner the machining would break through into the stud holes, that's why I would need to plug them. Also the studs need to come out through the head to facilitate the removal of the rocker box with the engine in the frame. Here is a picture of the butchered head.

M12 hole would break through into sleeve area plus the spigot was cut off to allow the butchered head to fit. I want to use the good head and have a spigot on the barrel.

I was thinking that the holes could have M12 studs brazed in and cut off, then re-sleeve the bore with a liner to create the spigot. Then the 3/8" holes could be re-drilled and tapped into the steel studs. But all this is tricky and could be a disaster waiting to happen so I would like an alternative barrel to fall back on if the worst happens. I have a head that has not been butchered that would fit another barrel my head is also badly butchered.

Hi thanks but I don't think Allan has any thing for this, I was hoping that some one on the site might be able to give me a lead to the bits I need.

Thanks for that I'd thought of the fibre glass method though the colour was black.

Hi All, I've just bought a 1929 Royal Enfield 505 to restore, does anyone have any information on this model. I also need an alloy horizontally split  primary chain case  to fit this machine.
