Hi people, I have just bought an A65 basket case and altho I am very experienced on A10's Triumphs etc I have never had or touched an A65 so I have a couple of questions the workshop manual does not seem to answer.

Firstly the crankcases are definitely 1969/70 and the crank appears to be correct as the sludge trap only has a plug on the oil pump side where the parts books say the earlier crank had a plug each end of the sludge trap. There is not enough end float to fit the thrust washer which apparently goes on the bush side. Without shimming the crank spins lovely, new bearings, regrind, line bored etc. but the entire end float measures roughly 31 thou without the thrust washer fitted and the thrust washer is at least double that thickness. Should I leave the thrust washer out and just shim as per normal?

My next question, altho I daresay I will have many more in the future, is regarding the cam followers. Each follower has two oil holes in the side of them. Should these holes face inwards or outwards? Does it make any difference?

The workshop manual I have is labelled number 00-4177 and apparently covers all models 69-70 but I cannot find any answers to these questions in there.

Many thanks in advance for any help or advice
