British Bikes / Re: James Captain 1951 spare parts

I believe later on that James and Francis barnett were very similar (badge engineered) FB parts may fit and be more plentiful.
I have a road test of a 1950 James Captain de Luxe. If that would be useful send me your email address via a personal message and I will send you a copy.
Good luck, Dave.

Assuming the '68 model has an oil pressure switch, that's your starting ppoint. It will either be 1/8 or 1/4 BSP. You'll need a selection of appropriate brass BSP fittings; including a tee piece to refit the pressure switch. Plenty of small guages on Fleabay; either back or bottom entry. Use a bit of 6mm soft copper tube if you want to mount the gauge remotely. It shouldn't be too difficult to work out.

The only spanner I remember my dad having was a small side opening adjustable; kept in the kitchen drawer. I may still have it.

What's the point; just check for satisfactory oil return to the tank.

It might have helped if we'd been given a clue as to who this person is.

Back in the 60s you reserved your weekly copy of whatever at the local newsagent. That way you only paid for it when you collected it. The publisher wasn't sat on your money for anything up to a year.

Nobody ever mentions hemorrhoids though. Surely some members must suffer.
