Glad to see you're still snapping at a few heels. I thought you'd retired.

The B&Q domed nuts do add a nice bit of bling to mudguard fixings though.

I'd take it to Rockerbox for a service & once over. My son had an engine rebuild from them on his T100R. They're fairly priced as well.

Like you, I'm not a professional bike wirer. I do know it took me a day to wire my James Comet from scratch. Direct lighting, Ignition done (only an HT lead anyway) & no petrol tank to remove (only a cover strip on top).
Every one to their own opinion, I suppose, but it aint five minutes work.

I think we've got some supersparks on here. The record being 2 hours to rewire a TR6. If presented with a bare frame, plus lights, switches & ignition to mount & wire, it's got to take 2-3 days; loom or not.

I was only relaying what was on my Douglas MK5 magdyno. It also strikes me that a cut out button is quite handy if you get a jammed throttle.

There should be a wire connection on the end cover of the mag. Earth this & it will cut out. Normally a pushbutton on the handlebar acts as the kill switch. No wire connection & I'm not sure, but it's something on that principle.

A Monobloc on later M20s would have been 1" bore with no 5 slide, 240 main jet & needle position 3. This would give you a starting guide.

Funny site, if one of the regulars had a go the rest would jump in like a wolf pack. There's enough material on there for a psychiatric seminar.

Phil, my C stuff is no good as it's all alternator, but I did find this in the Gold Star book. If you want to PM me with your email address, I'll blow each one up to A4 & send them to you.
Dave.
P.S. Looks like I could have been wrong on the positive earth with an early bike.

I can post a "C" series diagram if you like; it should be similar. Switches may vary, but it will give you a guide. Positive earth almost certainly.

Nothin' wrong with a few gutter bolts Ian. When I was at work, I used to nick 'em by the handful. ;D

Not enough meat in the cover for a helicoil, or possibly the next whit. size up for a stepped stud IMO. If I came across the mod in the future & couldn't work out quickly that I was dealing with a non standard thread, I'd want my arse kicking.
Why are people always so critical of a simple solution that works perfectly.

British Bikes / Triumph rocker cover.
« on: August 19, 2017, 02:51:41 PM »
The front rocker cover front stud had stripped the thread in the cover. Not my fault guv.
I tapped the cover out to M7. using three graduated taps & fitted an M7 stud. I drilled out the hole in the head to 7.1mm & the whole lot fits a treat.
This may be useful to others.
Dave.
