This may not help much reading your particular difficulty. My S/A bearings were worn. With some difficulty my son removed the swinging arm with the spindle etc. intact. I took the whole assembly to Rocker Box (nr Farnham) who replaced and reamed new bearings and fitted a new spindle. All at moderate cost. As I said it's not much help, but I do have the Triumph workshop manual which I would copy the relevant pages and email. Drop me a note to     hampshirebiker@gmail.com
Dave.

Your point about changing tack has hit the nail on the head mini-me. You see it on so many trouble shooting posts and it's a dead giveaway IMO.

So you're not French or a Yank. That narrows it down a bit. I know one thing for sure, you're a keyboard warrior or serial poster; whatever the term is.

Just let us know the result when you've bought something. If you ever do.

Do we really need it all again?

Once started, hold the tickler down and see what happens.

Do you honestly think there's the remotest possibility that anyone on this site will be interested in these bikes? I know the site could do with more posts, but it's not an advertising forum; particularly for this perceived exotica.

My Daytona book says 5 1/2 pints, but you're close enough for a starting point. Speak to the oil pump people to see if you've missed a trick.

At least you got your half a minute of fame Stew, which is more than most of us will get. May I say that your clip was very well presented.

I've just skinned through the programme and was delighted to see that the good old BEEB devoted about 33 seconds of their precious programme to the 1939 ISDT. Well done the BBC.

They won't devote much of the programme to it, but I'll set the recorder and see. Thanks for letting us know.

This may help. I'd never heard of the Silver, but apparently it was an economy model.
