I had a set of GPM's in a Triumph twin. Seemed OK (made in Italy if I remember right) but I'd have Hepolites through choice as they've always been good in my experience. Just my opinion though.

"Goldfinger", wasn't it?  The urban myth was that she died as her skin pores were all blocked by the paint....but she didn't.

If it's a Wipac genny, isn't it the same as a D1 Bantam?

Then again, as both buyer and seller are apparently unknown to "us" then any sort of valid judgement is impossible to make. "I know the seller, he's an honest man..." email doesn't really hack it, as the seller's mate could have sent it..
As in every B31-Goldie, TR5-5T type scenario, there really is no substitute for visually checking and rechecking if you're hoping to buy the genuine article.

The vent pipe is just a short length of rubber pipe used to extend the short steel pipe you have. It just points downwards.

The breather pipe is fed from the end of the inlet cam area and oil tends to pool there if the bike is left on the sidestand, so how much actually comes out when you kick it over?
As Wetdog suggests this isn't a usual Triumph fault (the oil draining down overnight) so next time you go to start it in the morning undo the engine bottom cap and see how much oil drains out.

I have oil coming out of the
Vent pie under the engine is this the fault of the oil pump?

Possibly, but we'll need to know the conditions when it happens, ie, after being left over-night, ticking over on the side stand, after having a good run, etc
Different faults, different conditions.
1969 should have the primary used as a plenum chamber and the vent pipe out over the rear mudguard, but the interchangeability of Triumph engines means it could have an earlier/later engine fitted. What's the engine number (leave out the last digit if you like) to determine the year?

I am finding it difficult to remove the front forks especially releasing the the split rings on the tree that holds the main spear of the shock. I am concerned I may break the rings by wedging the gap.

I'm guessing you're referring to releasing the fork tubes/stanchions from the bottom yoke by using a wedge to open the lower yoke slightly?
Go for it, the yokes are malleable iron and will give the required few thou to release the grip. As said by others, treat yourself to a Clymer or Haynes, both would cover this sort of procedure in depth, although if you need in-depth rebuilding info, go for an original workshop manual reprint.

I rather have my views, which incidentally, I feel,  are not as extreme as you paint.  I do not know of any DR.Evil, but I do know that usually, at every possible opportunity, you try & link & weave your Xenophobic views on race or other Countries into topics, implicating individuals with brown, tan or other  language speakers even those with white coloured faces, where I link, World Governance, Politicians & Local Councils for some of the ills, re-Transport policies of which motor

JBW your posts are becoming ever more fanciful and bizarre. Please consider what you're posting before posting it and save yourself the embarrassment of such wild allegations.

when it comes to doing something constructive about rogue dealers & inferior products being sold to like-minded punters, restoring & purchasing motorcycles,  you shy away, no forthright opinions here I note, that you want to be directly connected with.

I've already made the point that making such a list would both leave the list owner open to litigation, and be unfair to the sellers, who'd have no right of reply. Instead of fretting over what I think about the idea why not email the list owner and ask his views on it?
If it's such a big deal for you then start your own site complete with such a list?

I'm not worried...but as I appear to have early Alzheimers ( ;)) I thought I might have upset you too, and wondered what it was I'm supposed to have said.
As long as it appears to worry someone else more than you, it's OK.. :D

And, (Rex & Wetdog) stop that old shite about Bomber too, we have heard it before , now either you are both Forum mates,( kiss & make up), or not, (condescending arseholes),your choice!

Jeez, there's even more! What "old shit about Bomber" and who's heard it before?

Oh! & Rex your mate in the pub about Feather-beds, seems to have got quite a few facts wrong.

No!! ;) He didn't did he? I thought you realised it was ironic hyperbole...you didn't really think it was factual, did you? Really?

I've just seen all this above, (although quite what "hook line and sinker" I'm supposed to have taken has missed me)
JBW this site is (supposed to be) about bikes whatever line you may like to take it down.
Like you, many things irritate me too (and yes, I do get out, although what's that you said about personal comments?) but I'm sure there's more suitable sites than this to expound your particular views. You seem to verge on being a  Conspiracy Theorist, while I'm the complete opposite. I believe things get done despite the best efforts of the planners etc and I don't believe for one second that things are "linked" by some master plan or Machiavellian Bond villain cackling away in some bunker about how he closed the dog tracks and sold off the playing fields in East Sheen (or whatever) and closed pubs.
Things change, peoples' interests change and industry changes, but there's no Master Plan.

So "especially warn" away if you wish, but if you don't want a response which disagrees with your particular take on things then don't post. Simple, eh?

Just a thought. Where the O/P referred to "BSW" I wonder if he was using BSW as the generic interchangeable (and incorrect) term for "Imperial" as Americans (for example)  always seem to do?
You there, Graeme?
