British Bikes / Re: Triumph unit small twins

In this month's RealClassic mag there's a write-up on a Grumph, and it looks a nice bike.
Only downside is the article is written by the arch narcissist Miles....

Unless you have a good ATD assembly I'd go for a Boyer (or similar) ignition set-up using the side points parts.
I tried to post some parts for sale on that F-B group and the moderator rejected my post as I hadn't provided the relevant part numbers. I didn't bother again..

There is a UK-based F-B group purely for buying and selling Meriden spares which may be worth a look for you.
In the early days of Ebay there were some great bargains to be had from the US, but it would appear that they've now caught on to the value of used parts.

It was quite an interesting series of articles but majored more on the typical "how I modified a BSA top yoke to fit" rather than info on the Triumph power unit.
Mr Britton certainly can waffle for England.
There was an article many years back in the mag "Classic Mechanics" by Hughie Hancox (IIRC) and that was excellent as a rebuild guide to these units. That said, they're a simple robust engine unit and there's lots of info and spares available for them.
Nothing difficult about them and only a couple of special tools needed.

Looks like a Villiers engine in the last pic.

Someone was offering one free in the club mag a few months back.

And archaic in design too. Surely any car/bike machine shop offering head repairs could turn up a new seat and insert it properly? Not exactly hi-tech repairs.
Cheapest option...buy another head. Unleaded valve seats was another "end of the world as we know it" scenario from some years back, though in reality nothing was ever going to cause the solid lump of Yorkshire cast-iron Panther head any problems fuel-wise.

For a more informed range of opinions specific to Panthers you could always ask on the Panther F-B group as they're well-informed and technically aware. Then there's the Panther Owners forum who are also good.
I had an M100 up to six months ago but other than the previously-mentioned heat, heat and more heat I can't offer anything more than others have already said.

Yep, well identified.
HTF did a French bike end up in the US though?  :-\

Going by the style of the engine etc I'd guess at Italian. Possibly one of the myriad Italian makers post-war and imported by companies like Sears Roebuck etc.

I set up a search for a bottom-mount headlamp, used, for use on my Indian. Every few days Ebay sends me search results, and every time it's just those cheap sh*tty Chinese LED headlamp things.
Seems like they're intent on improving Ebay until it's no use anymore.

Tanks I've seen have rusted from the inside out so not really much to do with Pomland (Rustland) at all.

Good luck trying to find a fifty year old Honda tank without a base like a collander..

OK, I see your point there.
Aren't you going to lose the side panels and the rear section in the change though too?
That yellow tank really highlights that the tank badge and tank lower edge aren't parallel. I'd paint the lower 2" of the tank black if it were mine and try and disguise Soichiro's lack of aesthetic appreciation.
