Does anyone have any advice regarding the upgrade of a BSA C15 SS80 to 350cc by the use of a B40 barrel?

Thanks

British Bikes / Identifying Oil Pumps....
« on: January 12, 2008, 03:29:09 AM »
I've got a lovely box of oil pumps...  (I'll let you all add the tune to that line!).    I want to clear them out but am struggling to identify them and am after some advice (and buyers if anyone is interested!).

I have three externally superficially similar twin plunger types.  One is brass and looks like the type fitted to pre-unit Triumph twins.  There are no part numbers etc on this one.  Are there other possibilities for this other than 5T/6T?

The other two are an alloy? material but have the same crankcase-facing face with identical oilways as the brass pump.  This suggests they are from the same family as the first.  However, the plungers are larger on these two.  These two have external markings 6635 AM1 and 6635 AM2 respectively.

Can anyone out there help in indentifying what these are from?

Yours hopefully,

Nigel.

British Bikes / What brake fluid for my T140?
« on: October 30, 2007, 11:33:45 PM »
Recently added a 1977 Silver Jubilee Bonneville (my first modern British bike!) to my collection.  Have got the workshop manual - but I can't find anywhere that says what the correct brake fluid should be.  Can anyone out there advise me?  I've scoured the manual over and over again, but simply can't find it.   ??? ???

Thanks

British Bikes / Triumph 6T Sprung Hub
« on: May 01, 2007, 02:20:50 AM »
Can anyone help me.  I have a 1954 6T with sprung hub.  The bike has been off the road for a lengthy period but is now MoT's and ready to go.  Everything is fine except for the rear suspension.  This manifests itself as the drive chain becomes taught.  When the rear wheel nuts are slackened, the chain then restores to its correct tension.  Wheel nuts duly re-tightened and tension is still OK.  Lift the bike a few inches and drop the bike on the rear wheel and the chain is tight again.  Any advice on what may be causing this?

Thanks

British Bikes / Thunderbird 6T Alternator Connections
« on: November 14, 2006, 09:14:53 PM »
Guys,
am lucky enough to have acquired a 1954 6T Thunderbird in unrestored and totally original condition.  Hopefully only needs a bit of fettling to get it on the road - but I need some help.  After taking the primary chaincase off to check condition, most of the soldered connections from the alternator have broken where they join the wiring harness.

Q1. - How on earth do I work out which wires from the stator go to which cable?  Can anyone advise?

Thanks

British Bikes / Gold Star misfire
« on: May 08, 2006, 04:19:28 AM »
Folks,
after a bit of help...  Got a 58 DBD34 that has a slight problem.  Starts well & pulls well but misfires when "pushed" at a sustained speed.  Anything around 5K rpm in top for more than a couple of minutes and the bike misfires.  It will rev quite happily past this in the gears, but not in top at speed (65-70mph).  It feels like fuel starvation, but I've got a good flow from both fuel taps.  Has anyone got any ideas where I should start looking?  I've changed plugs and leads etc just in case, but it just doesn't feel like a spark problem.
help....!

British Bikes / Norton ES2 Spec
« on: April 03, 2006, 03:22:15 AM »
here's an unusual question!  How much does a Norton ES2 (1949) weigh?  I'm trying to get one shipped from India, and need this info for the shipping agency.  I also need to know its dimensions, but could have a guess at that.  Any ideas anyone?

British Bikes / Oil Feed & Return on 52 AJS 16
« on: January 24, 2006, 03:30:53 AM »
Hi,
can anyone tell me which are the feed and return oil ways from the engine to the tank on a 52 AJS Model 16.  I'm worried.  Just been out to start the engine and can't see a return feed to the tank...

Thanks

Nigel.
