I have bought and registered bikes from abroad that have never been registered here and never been offered a Q plate.. the plot thickens...

It is so that overhead singles will fit in the frame particularly Model 19's as they had taller barrels

Frame and engine numbers http://www.britbike.com/bsapitstop/dating/1921-30.html

.... "In 1924, two BSA 'Round Tanks' and two BSA 350cc Sports models took part in a climb up Mount Snowdon in Wales."

A video.. sorry can't translate, I don't do E European http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WONsDM_8AU&feature=player_embedded hope it works.

I didn't realise they had no front brake... sounds like 'fun'

I think the 350's were matching, but I could be wrong

I've often fancied one... well done that man :) I have the bike that followed on from it although I rarely ride it. The S26 had wooden brake blocks in 1926 and it certainly is a challenge.

I remember Ray Chase, I bought some Triumph bits from him in the mid seventies, quite a character!

British Bikes / Re: are norton jubilee's realy that bad ?
« on: November 30, 2013, 11:51:14 PM »
I'm about halfway through restoring a Norton Jubilee and I have spent more than the value of the bike will be when it's fully restored.... I knew that before I started and just cos I'm a sentimental old twit I went ahead with the resto (I used to have one as a teenager).

I've enjoyed buggering about with it, but then again I like workshop time equally as much as riding (a good job some would say owning a jubilee). I still have to purchase the enclosed back end fairing as it was missing so the bike really will be over budget.

I would say flat out 80mph (fair wind and a decent incline etc) but consistent use at this speed means more workshop time. You are right about the James stuff. The jubilee has AMC brakes and forks which were not at all up to the job if you ask me.

If you are going to rid yourself of this burden let me know exactly what you have please

Frank

I love this bike as it is, it's just a matter of opinion about the brake lever but a nice oily rag condition bike like this doesn't need anything except riding IMHO. I would be proud to take it anywhere!
