If her only experience was with a Bantam (2 stroke).... bigger stuff (4 stroke) would be beyond her understanding... just a thought.

"Wet sumping in the original true sense of the term refers to the inablity of the scavenge system to return the oil from the sump back to the oil tank while the engine is running.  "

These days, I would have called that a knackered oil pump or a blockage  :P

I have one on my 1950 ES2... absolutely wonderfull! although I still retained all the casings for originality, the tin plate primary drive cover on ES2's is well known to be a bit of a seive and I now have a clean drive as well as a remarkable clutch.

Love it! BSA pre-unit twins have something special about them. I have one on the back burner too, I do a bit when I have nothing pressing to do and like yours mine is evolving as time goes by. It started out as a Road Rocket and was with all good intensions going to be a cafe racer.... its 50% on the way to being an RGS rep now :). Stick at it, it's looking good!

I have owned this bike for around 5 years and have found very little information about the model. She runs quite sweetly, although I have never ridden it on public roads. I became the owner of this bike when I purchased it along with a 1930 BSA 500 sloper delux and a 1926 BSA S26 all in decent fettle from a friend who bought a container load of bikes from S.Africa. He didn't show any interest in anything that had a hand change so he did me a cracking deal.

Any information would be useful, Many thanks in anticipation

I have a Norton Imp solo, pictures are on the vintagebike.com website. My name is Frank Barlow and an article and pictures of it will be appearing in an American magazine called Cafe Racer very shortly. If I can help you with anything, please ask.

Just to throw a googly at you erudite chaps, I have a BSA 1930 Sloper Deluxe, which has a foot brake pedal on either side, one for the front and obviously one for the back. Did any other models try this combination. Oh yes, it has a hand change too, positioned on the right  ;D
