Iīve given up riding on the road here in Spain because they all drive like the russians on U Tube videos. But I still like looking at them and going through my scrapbooks. I should have taken more photos.

Read 1290 times and not one reply!   Slight lack of interest there then.  Nobody even tried to cadge a free holiday.Sounds a bit like the speedway that an Englishman started in the same area.
there were two sidecars at Denia  a few years ago but not very well made.
If you are still in Spain drop me a line.

It looks  like an accessory by a firm like Britax, possibly the same basic casting as a clip on the car window parking light from the 60s. Is there a place for a white lens on the other side?

How do you buy a prototype?
I would check the valve clearances after changing the head gasket unless itīs overhead cam. We had an oil tank fall off when the brackets cracked the back panel of tank due to vibration so we put a steel strap round the outside of the tank. It doesnīt suck when the tank is hanging on the pipes upside down. Pieces of the crankcase are still in Ainsdale beach now.
Pleased to see this topic caused so much discussion.

As Roger says, Forget the yanks, keep them in Europe, the Spaniards used to pay silly money for bikes, they didnīt make many 4 strokes and BSA singles were imported here in the 50s.
The British are too tight to pay todays prices because they remember how cheaply they could have bought them and if yours are European restorations they might not be to British specifications.
Either way get rid of them now before it all goes down the pan.

Well welcome to the site but be prepared to be disappointed, not much happens here but the older members do know about odd stuff. As usual a lot of what other people think they know has become gospel over the years and I only know about stuff that nobody wants to know. At the moment Iīve only got one british bike , a BSA Beagle restored ready to paint and chrome. And a royal enfield in a lambretta that father built to pull a sidecar . Best forgotten unless youīre a Mod with a strong leg for starting it. Wink.

We only started sand racing in 1968 and wouldnīt have known the other riders. The wirral 100 motor club ran Wallasey sand races, There were over 50 sidecar entries so they ran 2 heats then 2 more heats possibly shuffled and then anything that was left running went in 1 last race at the end of the day. Each heat awarded points to an annual Trophy and unfortunately we didnīt know this and Alan Wignall would have got enough points to win the cup if he hadnīt been in the same heats as us so perhaps it was your father who did win ifīIīll see if I can find a program or cutting from Motor Cycle News but as for the Echo you could try a liverpool library archive and I may find the races dates so It might have been in the Monday edition. Now that my father has died I will scan more photos and post them. Robin Babb.

Madreguda, where in spain? there is a bloke called Dawson from Pontefract ( i bet Bomber knows of him) he lives inland from Alicante at Castalla and he likes a challenge. I may have an idea how to contact him but it will take me a bit of thought.
Totally agree about the Spanish MOT, give a Spaniard a bit of authority and they soon prove they hate the English.

We had a C11g in maroon and a C12 swinging arm in black . Mother had a C11 with a sidecar for 10 years and I never saw father put a spanner on it but he did tie up a broken spoke in the back wheel with a bit of welding wire, unfortunately he left the twisted end sticking out and my foot got dragged into the back wheel, always panelled in sidecar outfit back wheels after that.

You ARE correct LAB, obviously I have a persecution complex.
"No longer required" That could apply to lots of things.

In UK front registration plates were banned in line on the mudguard because they suddenly became dangerous parts and no front plate was needed. I always had mine across the fork crowns anyway.
presumably deeply valanced mudguards with the plate on their side were OK but there was talk of being done for dangerous parts if the in line blades were not removed.
Persecution of motorcyclists by Labour Governments? Discuss.
