British Bikes / Villiers 10d clutch
« on: April 02, 2014, 11:10:48 AM »
Hi i have fitted new clutch corks to a Villiers 10d engine and although everything seems to work as it should, when the bike is on the stand with the clutch engaged, the rear wheel still turns slowly. Is this natural or is there something i hav"nt done, or do i have to wait for the corks to bed in.  Many thanks Bud.

British Bikes / Villiers engine coil replacement
« on: March 01, 2014, 11:10:55 AM »
Hi,   seem to be having a bit of trouble changing the coil in a Villiers 197cc 6e engine, it just refuses to let go from the ears. Are there any grub screws or the like or am i just a wimp and not putting enough brute strength behind it. If there are grub screws i should have gone to specsavers. Someone come to my rescue.

Hi all  just wondering if there is a list or any info on the internet as to what readings i should get when testing ignition and lighting coils on Villiers engines. I have watched a few videos on you tube with all different readings so none the wiser.

British Bikes / 1952 sun challenger forks
« on: December 28, 2013, 11:11:02 AM »
Hi all, can someone give me instructions on how to replace springs in the forks of a 1950s Sun challenger. This may sound a bit mad but it looks as though the bottom tube as been re- chromed to far up the tube and so not sliding far enough into the top tube. Is this the case or do you think  its a bit more simple. As you have probably gathered by now it is my first attempt so any help would be a bonus.

Many thanks.
PS  Can you tell me what a neoprene rod is ??

British Bikes / villiers 10D engine.
« on: November 26, 2013, 06:37:44 PM »
Hi Im having a go at changing the piston on my Villiers 10D engine. Having never done this before or anything like it I thought a bit of help would be very handy. It all seems pretty straight forward apart from one thing, should there be a minimal amount of side play on the rod at the big end? Hope Im not talking rubbish and look forward to a bit of help.  Many thanks.

British Bikes / Sun Hornet.
« on: October 24, 2013, 02:29:19 PM »
Hi All  My brother recently purchased a 98cc Sun Hornet in blue. Now having read the history of the manufacture of the bike it states that it was released for the 1955 season in blue with the larger fuel tank. All very well but how come I keep finding Hornets on the internet from earlier years and in red and maroon and black and with two different frames. Can someone put me out of my misery. Will try and put a photo of the bike on here and maybe you can tell me if the bike is right or wrong. Just out of interest the frame number is XMC 241 and the engine number is 604B*****.

British Bikes / coventry eagle 147cc engine. ?
« on: September 14, 2013, 10:10:52 AM »
Hi from the photos can anyone confirm that this is a Coventry eagle own engine or is it a Villiers. The only marks i can find are 2021 on the base plate of the head. Hope this makes sense, and fingers crossed.
The logbook states it is a 1934 however the original records says 1932. Confused or what.
